Senior Project Engineer

Description:Heritage Research Group evaluates customer byproducts for possible re-use or recycle opportunities.
Duties:Senior Engineer will work with HTG staff to evaluate:
• Practical conversion routes and products;
• Will design, procure, install & operate pilot plant equipment;
• Engineer will prepare reuse equipment RFQs and costs, facility capital cost and raw material, utility and operating costs and product sales pricing to prepare economic analysis of opportunity;
• Will design, procure and manage new facility construction projects;
• Will be responsible for new reuse facility employee operator training and startups, including process evaluations and process improvements;
• Will be used as an engineering expert to support other Heritage Group company projects;
• Will provide technical input on safety issues, developing, tracking and maintaining data used to improve facility operations, and financial performance, in addition to other duties as assigned;
• The senior project engineer will report to HTG Lab Manager.

Required Skills or Experience:
• Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering degree
• At least 15 to 20 years process and project engineering experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer skills (Office, MS Project and AutoCAD)
• Project management – from capital request, to collecting bids, to awarding work, to managing contractors, to start up and training
• Quick learning ability to evaluate new processes
• Ability to oversee external design firms and oversee construction management firms to meet budget and schedule.
• Process design experience including mass and energy balances, PFDs and P&ID development.
• Ability to work effectively with equipment vendors on RFQs, POs, deliveries, installation and startups.
• Cost estimating ability for “never-been done-before” processes
• Ability to look at a process (either in engineering drawings or at the actual physical equipment) and develop an understanding
• Ability to study a process and develop key metrics to measure, then develop improvement plans, track progress
Skills or Experience Considered a Plus:
• Wastewater treatment experience a plus
• Experience with air and water permitting requirement and familiar with RCRA regulations
• Safety experience specifically with Process Hazard Reviews and Maintenance of Change Procedures.
